So I said I ripped off the work I started on my sister’s wrap.
I have started a couple of rows on a stole, in this case it’s called the Beginner Ruana. I’m working on the first front and back, and so far it’s been pretty easy to follow. I’m trying not to look too far ahead into the pattern because I’m seeing something that I think will worry me, and it calls for help. Hehe. (I just know I’m going to be asking Phisch [she does awesome knitting!] about it.)
I’d say my knitting is coming along well. I had trouble in the beginning, working out the hand/needle coordination. I think I’ve gotten the hang of it, though.
I realized something funny about myself while working on this. I’m really very contradictory because while I really would like immediate gratification, I find that I don’t like doing small projects. Even when I’m a beginner. I like ‘em big and overwhelming. This stole aint too big, though. But the ripple afghan sure was!

Here's a greeting from a girl on an island in the Pacific. (Am I right? I'm not very good at geography.)
You guys have the most difficult job in the world. I bow to your patience, understanding, perseverance (in the face of disobedience and smart-mouthed kids), and motherly love. I cannot imagine enduring the things you guys endure on a daily basis. I mean, you don't only deal with kids, you have to deal with men/husbands, too. And goodness knows husbands can be more of a headache than the kids. I'm glad though that there are mommies in my 'hood blessed with really great husbands. I swear I will not settle for anything less than what you guys have.
Happy mother's day to you! I hope you have a grand time! Mother's day should be a year-round event. After all, mothers put up with us for the duration of their lives.
Denise is home! Yay!!!
The pictures are crappy because I took them with the VGA cam on my phone. :-)
I thought I'd add something more to this post. I can't believe it took more than a month for the package to get here. I saw on the box that it shipped out of Virginia on March 25. Wow. I almost doubted whether I would actually get it.
I'm kind of having trouble getting the connecting cord and the needle to lock. Hehe. I think I'm too excited.
Let the obsession begin!*
*This is all Phisch's fault. You ought to see the stuff she knits, they're awesome!
And I bet I'm not going to get decent sleep in the weeks to come.
I was in Kentucky. Good times.
I never told Robert but I got asked out at the hotel by an African-American. He asked whether I wanted to go to Louisville to watch the derby. I declined, of course. He even gave me a box of chocolate chip cookies. And then he asked if I would be in downtown Lexington the night of the derby. Apparently, there's lots of things going down in Main Street. Rob and I passed by Main Street that night. I'm not sure where we went. I'm guessing we were out watching a movie and chose to drive around town afterwards.
My sister and I caught the advance screening last night at the Glorietta 4 cinema. I kind of liked the movie, but there were parts of it that I really seriously hated. I guess they were trying to "mimic" how the cartoon was like because there sure were a lot of lights and swirling stripes. It made me dizzy. The cars were fantastic, though. And ohmygod, the racing was sooooo... I don't know, but I got a real high out of watching them race. It was so fierce. At one point I was kind of bobbing up and down in my seat, clapping my hands, moving like I was one of the spectator in the stands. I love the story, though. I totally dig the loving-the-family bit. I love Speed, love his girlfriend Trixie. His little brother was hilarious, and so was the chimp. Christina Ricci was smokin'! She was sooo cute! Love her in this movie. Hehe. I didn't know she was only 5'1". Wow. The actor who played Speed reminded me so much of Chris O'Donnell. They look very similar to each other, and if I didn't know any better I'd say they're related.
Do any of you have One Hello by Randy Crawford?
I've been singing parts of the song and hearing it being played in my head.
:(
It's driving me crazy.
One Hello
If you're not afraid
Of what love brings
Then endings are beginnings
Of beautiful things
It's a chance you'll take
It's a chance you'll win
If someone's gonna find you
First you gotta let them in
Coz love begins with one hello
The hardest part is over
Now it's easy letting go
One hello is how it starts
You might win it all or lose your heart
If you're not afraid
Of what you feel
Then try and keep it simple
Or try and keep it real
And if being real means
Means you'll some day say goodbye
Remember my friend
Goodbyes not the end
It's a circle you know
And it starts with one hello
Love begins with one hello
The hardest part is over
Now it's easy letting go
One hello is how it starts
Remember my friend
Goodbye's not the end
It's a circle you know
And it starts with one hello
It starts with one hello
Believe it or not, it's raining outside. I would say it's raining pretty heavily. It's quite nice. I like it. It's been awfully hot the past couple of days. And of course it would be because it's summer over here. I had been meaning to go to the mall to check about getting Globe Visibility (that's a Wi-Fi service), but laziness attacked so I'm putting it off. I have an online test to take tomorrow and I would need wireless service. I suppose I could get that at Starbucks. Or Gloria Jeans? I'm not sure what the signal strength/quality is in Eastwood. I will have to go to work early tomorrow to try it out.
The reason I posted is because I wanted to let you know that the weather is nice today. Been cloudy for most of the day. Kinda cool. A little humid. But it's cool because it's cool and humid? Hahaha. Oh, don't mind me. I just like that it's not a hot, rainy afternoon. This is the kind of weather where it's good to stay indoors and be on the Internet. Hopefully it doesn't trip the electricity. It seems like it's kinda windy out there, too. Something about the noise that the rain makes that makes me think there's wind.
I did? lol!Dang, my memory's getting crappy. read more
